Quotes

Police continue to receive reports about the public display of symbols glorifying Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine, in particular the prominent use of the letters 'Z' and 'V' as used on the invading force's war machines.
On Tuesday, incidents involved the main highway from Riga and a local road, with the letter 'Z' drawn on a bus stop and on an emergency phone marker.
Soon after the police and representatives of Latvian State Roads and a road maintenance company acted after journalists saw the situation. They promised that in the future they would react more quickly in such cases that are clearly graffiti of greatly evil persuasion.
By early Thursday morning the offensive sign had been painted over again, this time with prohibited symbols were still visible underneath.
The State Police has started an administrative violation process for this case for the use of symbols glorifying military aggression and war crimes in a public place. The person responsible is liable to a fine of up to 350 euros.
