An anonymous call that explosives had been planted at Kaunas Hydro Power Plant, one of Lithuania’s strategically important facilities, proved to be a hoax.
The caller told the police at just after 11:00 on Monday that the plant would explode at 13:00.
Officers and colleagues from the Public Security Service checked the accesses and internal premises, and found no suspicious items.
On Monday morning, Vilnius and Kaunas airports also received hoax phone calls about bombs planted in the premises.
According to Lithuania’s National Crisis Management Centre (NKVC), the new hoax bomb threats do not appear to be linked to last month’s wave.
"There are currently no clear indications that this is a continued attack," it added.
