Polish border guards prevented two human smuggling groups near the German border involving migrants from Egypt and Afghanistan on July 6, 2025.
On July 6, 2025, Polish border guards from the Nadodrzański Oddział SG detained two groups of foreign nationals illegally present in Poland in the Zgorzelec district near the Polish-German border. The first case involved two Ukrainians attempting to smuggle three Egyptian migrants. They were charged with aiding illegal border crossing and will face court decisions on preventive measures. The Egyptian migrants entered a return procedure and were placed in a migrant center. The second incident involved a 54-year-old Ukrainian man transporting four undocumented Afghans. He confessed guilt, received a six-month suspended sentence, a five-year Schengen entry ban, and was escorted back to the Polish-Ukrainian border. The Afghan migrants started return proceedings and were also placed in a migrant center. These incidents highlight ongoing illegal migration attempts and border security enforcement in Poland.
Confidence: High
The event describes hostile aggressor activity in the form of attempted illegal human smuggling into EU territory, detected and prevented by Polish border guards, implicating criminal facilitation by actors from Ukraine. No defensive military preparations are described.
