Employee of AfD Politician Maximilian Krah Arrested in Dresden on Suspicion of Spying for China

German Federal Prosecutor General authorities arrested Jian G. on suspicion of conducting espionage for the Chinese Ministry of State Security (MSS). Jian G., an assistant to AfD European Parliament candidate Maximilian Krah, allegedly passed information from the EU Parliament to Chinese intelligence and spied on Chinese opposition figures residing in Germany. Known to German security services for more than ten years, Jian G. had previously offered to work as an informant but was rejected due to concerns about his reliability and possible double-agent status. Jian G. holds German citizenship but was born in China, came to Dresden as a student in 2002, and later engaged in business activities and political affiliations including past SPD membership. The arrest is part of a broader crackdown on Chinese espionage activities in Germany, though it is reportedly unrelated to other arrests made days earlier. This case underscores the continuing threat posed by foreign intelligence services exploiting local political operatives.
