Lithuania is deploying the Ukrainian-developed SkyFortress acoustic drone detection system to enhance airspace surveillance against low-flying drones and cruise missiles.
On October 2, 2026, Lithuania began deployment of the SkyFortress acoustic drone detection system, developed in Ukraine. This system detects low-flying objects such as drones and cruise missiles by analyzing their acoustic and radio signals using artificial intelligence. It provides real-time classification of objects that leave acoustic or electromagnetic traces. Under a contract signed in summer 2026, the system includes data processing of sensor inputs, use of digital signature libraries based on unclassified acoustic and radio frequency data, and personnel training. Testing in Lithuania will assess the system's effectiveness in detecting and identifying low-flying unmanned aerial vehicles. The Lithuanian Minister of Defence Robertas Kaunas emphasized that adoption of already operational Ukrainian systems enables faster strengthening of Lithuania's air defence chain, from detection to threat interception and neutralization.
Confidence: High
The signal describes deployment and testing of a defensive airspace monitoring system focused on detecting hostile drone and missile threats, indicating a defensive preparation rather than active aggression.
