An unidentified airborne object crashed in eastern Poland near Tarnawa-Kolonia after being detected during Russian missile strikes on Ukraine. Polish military scrambled jets but lost radar contact before the crash site was found. Investigations and security operations are ongoing.
Polish authorities investigated the crash of an unidentified airborne object in a field between Tarnawa-Kolonia and Tokary villages in the eastern Lubelskie region, about 2 km from the nearest buildings. The crash occurred hours after Polish military radar detected an unidentified object moving westward over Polish airspace at 03:40 local time during Russian missile strikes on western Ukraine. An F-16 was scrambled but the object disappeared from radar at 03:46 before identification. An Mi-24 helicopter located the probable impact site in an uninhabited area near Tarnawa-Kolonia. Ground and emergency services secured the area. At least a dozen Russian missiles were tracked over western Ukraine overnight, with one missile coming within 5 km of the Polish border before turning east. Air raid sirens were activated in Lublin and other Lubelskie region parts but lifted after several minutes. The investigation is ongoing with no official identification of the object or confirmed link to Russian strikes.
Confidence: Medium
The incident involves the unauthorized entry and crash of an unidentified airborne object in Polish airspace during a known Russian missile strike operation on Ukraine. The scrambling of fighter jets and involvement of counterterrorism and military intelligence indicates hostile, aggressive activity correlated temporally and spatially with Russian military operations nearby.
