Romanian forces have shot down three drones over the course of three days near Romania's border with Ukraine. The latest drone was intercepted by an F-16 fighter jet on Sunday morning around 10:13 am in the Sulina–Chilia area of the Danube Delta. Another drone was shot down on Saturday about 10 km west of Sfântu Gheorghe village, and a third on Friday. The Friday drone was identified as a Shahed-type drone used by Russia in the war against Ukraine. The Romanian President stated these violations of Romanian airspace by Russian drones are intolerable and are being taken seriously in coordination with allies. Romania has experienced a surge of drone incidents linked to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, including a Russian drone crash into an apartment block in May and a Ukrainian sea drone explosion in the port of Constanta.
