Concurrently, Latvian border guards turned back 90 migrants attempting illegal entry on July 7, 2026. On the Polish border, no attempts at illegal crossings were recorded on July 6, 2026. For the year 2026, Lithuania has denied entry to a total of 888 illegal migrants. Historical data shows over 1,600 attempted illegal entries from Belarus to Lithuania in 2025 and 1,002 in 2024. Since the start of the Belarus-triggered migration crisis in 2021, Lithuania has prevented over 25,000 unauthorized entries from Belarus. The migrant influx into Eastern EU states via Belarus began in 2021, with Western countries accusing Minsk of orchestrating this crisis.
