Russian hackers compromised IP cameras along Dutch military routes to gather intelligence on military transport and defense shipments to Ukraine.

Dutch intelligence agencies AIVD and MIVD reported that Russian hackers hacked internet-connected IP cameras, including those along military routes in the Netherlands, to spy on military transport movements and shipments of defense equipment to Ukraine. The investigation revealed that many IP cameras were poorly secured, using default passwords or outdated firmware. The agencies warned businesses near military routes to improve security. This espionage tactic is used by Russia systematically in NATO and EU countries and also in Ukraine. The Netherlands is targeted due to its role as a transit country and support for Ukraine.
