Multiple incendiary devices were thrown onto a construction site near Munich defense companies Rohde & Schwarz and Helsing. Two suspects have been detained. Authorities suspect a politically motivated attack with minor damage and no injuries.
In the night leading to Thursday, multiple incendiary devices were thrown onto a construction site in Berg am Laim, Munich, located near the headquarters of the technology and defense companies Rohde & Schwarz and Helsing. At least one incendiary device ignited a fire extinguished by police, and another was defused by special forces. No injuries occurred, and only minor material damage was reported. Authorities suspect a politically motivated attack targeting the defense sector. Two suspects, a 28-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man holding Bulgarian citizenship, were detained nearby and are under investigation. The construction site is adjacent to several defense-related companies. Rohde & Schwarz, specializing in security technology, military communications, radar systems, and drone defense, confirmed the incident, stating their operational grounds were unaffected.
Confidence: High
The act of throwing incendiary devices at a construction site housing key defense sector firms, combined with police reports of political motivation and suspect arrests, constitutes hostile asymmetric activity consistent with terrorism or politically motivated violent action.
