Denmark will receive NSM anti-ship missile batteries from Norway in 2026 to enhance maritime sea control and denial in the Baltic region.
The Danish NSM anti-ship missile batteries will be operational within the next couple of years with delivery of the first battery from Norway during 2026. These missiles have a range of 162 nautical miles and are intended to enhance sea control in Danish waters and sea denial in the Baltic Sea region. This capability, combined with new Forcit sea mines and air defense systems, will strengthen Danish maritime defensive capacity and sea control in the Baltic, Kattegat, and Skagerak regions. Denmark previously operated two mobile Harpoon missile batteries until 2003, and experience from those systems contributed to missile delivery to Ukraine.
Confidence: High
The signal describes Denmark's defensive capability enhancement through acquiring missile batteries and complementary defensive systems; no indication of aggression or hostile acts is present.
