Multiple small drones were reported flying around U.S. Air Force bases in the United Kingdom on November 26, 2024, including RAF Fairford, RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Feltwell. The drones formed clusters and were seen near B-52 bomber deployments at RAF Lakenheath. British authorities scrambled jets and deployed approximately 60 troops with counter-drone expertise to respond. No damage or incidents affecting local residents or installations were reported, but the drone presence remains unexplained in terms of ownership and intent. This incident follows prior similar cases in the U.S. where drones were spotted near military bases, fueling concerns about the evolving threat of commercial and potentially hostile drones. The U.S. Air Force is investing in low-cost counter-drone solutions to address this emerging challenge, indicating ongoing defense preparation efforts.
