"headline": "Putin's Kremlin covert false flag bomb plot to disrupt Hungary elections and blame Ukraine foiled by Serbian intelligence",
"description": "Russian special forces and GRU military intelligence attempted a covert false flag bombing in the Serbian border town of Kanizha to disrupt Hungary's parliamentary elections by destroying a key gas pipeline and blaming Ukraine. Serbian intelligence discovered two explosive devices, which were US-made, indicating an attempt by Russia to fabricate Ukrainian involvement and justify emergency laws to stall the elections. The plot aimed to keep Hungary's Euro-sceptic Viktor Orban in power by preventing a likely loss to pro-European opposition leader Peter Magyar. Serbian Military Security Agency Director Đuro Jovanić clarified Ukraine's non-involvement, stating the explosives’ origin does not indicate the executor. The operation was part of Moscow's massive interference in Hungary's elections to discredit Ukraine and maintain a Kremlin-friendly government.",

"summary_extended": "On or shortly before April 8, 2026, Russian Spetsnaz troops and GRU operatives attempted a covert false flag bombing operation in the Serbian border town of Kanizha involving two US-made explosive devices aimed at destroying a key gas pipeline. Serbian intelligence uncovered the explosives before detonation. The objective was to facilitate Hungary’s ruling Euro-sceptic Fidesz party under Viktor Orban in stalling parliamentary elections via emergency laws triggered by a terrorist attack, thereby preventing a probable electoral victory by pro-European opposition leader Peter Magyar. Serbian Military Security Agency head Đuro Jovanić confirmed Ukraine was not involved, emphasizing the explosives' US origin does not identify the perpetrators. This operation is part of a wider Kremlin interference campaign aiming to discredit Ukraine and maintain a Russia-aligned government in Hungary. The plot exemplifies Russia's use of false flag tactics using foreign weaponry to mask Kremlin involvement in destabilizing allied nations.",
