An object resembling a drone was found in a Polish cornfield near Wielki Łęck, prompting military and legal investigations amid recent Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace.
An unidentified object resembling a drone was discovered in a cornfield in the village of Wielki Łęck, about 60 kilometers from Olsztyn in northeastern Poland. Local officers secured the area and notified military police and the district prosecutor’s office which is investigating the incident. The discovery follows a recent series of events including around 20 Russian drones breaching Polish airspace on September 9-10, several of which were shot down by NATO jets, and a downed drone found in a forest in the Lublin region on September 17. The incident is part of ongoing concerns about dangerous escalation of the war in Ukraine and has prompted the EU eastern flank member states to agree on establishing a 'drone wall' to secure EU airspace. Russia denies that these incidents are intentional provocations.
Confidence: High
The incident involves suspected hostile technology (drone) debris found on Polish soil following recent Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace, indicating aggressive hostile hybrid warfare activity.
