German prosecutors arrested Romanian Alla S. and Ukrainian Sergey N. on suspicion of spying for Russian intelligence targeting a drone supplier to Ukraine, with arrests made in Germany and Spain in March 2026.
On 24 March 2026, the German Federal Prosecutor's Office announced the arrests of two suspected Russian intelligence agents: Alla S., a Romanian national arrested in Rheine, Germany, and Sergey N., a Ukrainian citizen apprehended in Spain. Sergey N. allegedly conducted espionage from December 2025 by surveilling a person in Germany who supplies drones and related components to Ukraine, collecting information online and filming the target's workplace. After relocating to Spain, Sergey N. passed his task to Alla S., who filmed the target's residence from March 2026 onwards. The espionage was reportedly intended to prepare further covert operations against the target person. Both suspects had their residences searched. The case is handled in close cooperation with the German domestic intelligence service and the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office.
Confidence: High
This event clearly involves hostile Russian intelligence operations (aggressor) through espionage targeting a German-based drone supplier for Ukraine, and the coordinated German and Spanish law enforcement arrests and investigations indicate active defense preparations and counterintelligence efforts.
