On December 26, 2025, Latvian pro-Kremlin activist Alla Berezovska sent an email to former US President Donald Trump and received an apparent AI-generated automatic reply from the White House. Berezovska is known for using the term "Ahtungs" frequently in her publications and claimed the automated reply was a 'miracle.' In her letter, Berezovska defended individuals accused and convicted of crimes against the Latvian state, asserting their innocence despite court rulings. Following the automatic response, Berezovska expressed hope in an interview with pro-Kremlin blogger Aleksandr Valdmans that the so-called 'golden rain' might extend to Latvian criminals, which is seen as a sarcastic euphemism for leniency or favor. This incident highlights continuing pro-Kremlin disinformation campaigns via automated communications, aiming to legitimize criminal actors hostile to the Latvian state through false narratives and manipulation of AI technology. The activity correlates with ongoing Russian influence operations targeting Latvian society and legal institutions.
