Between November 1 and 2, 2025, drones were spotted for three consecutive nights flying over the Kleine-Brogel military base in Belgium, with a helicopter dispatched on the latest night but unable to intercept. Additional drone sightings occurred at other military sites including Leopoldburg and Marches-en-Famenne, as well as near Deurne and Ostend airports. The Belgian Defence Minister, Theo Francken, stated on social media that the flight was a deliberate mission targeting Kleine-Brogel and that an investigation is underway. Similar drone incidents were reported last month over the Elsenborn base near the German border. The responsible actors and intentions behind these drone flights are unclear, but the pattern has intensified debate among European leaders regarding the feasibility of deploying a 'drone wall' to defend against suspected Russian drone incursions across the continent's eastern frontier.
