Mark Bullen, former Hertfordshire Constabulary officer and British national, had his UK citizenship revoked in October 2025 on grounds of national security due to his links to Russia. Bullen, obsessed with Russia since childhood, moved to St Petersburg nearly 12 years ago and obtained Russian citizenship in 2022. He works in communications for the Gazprom-owned Zenit St Petersburg football team and maintains a pro-Kremlin social media presence. He was stopped and questioned on suspicion of hostile activity linked to a foreign state at Luton airport in November 2024, where his electronic devices were seized but no arrest was made. The Home Office cited deprivation of citizenship as a tool to protect the UK from dangerous individuals involved in hostile state activities. This case reflects concerns over dual loyalty and infiltration through legal means.
