A drone crashed in the southeastern Romanian city of Galati near the border with Ukraine during a barrage of Russian strikes on Ukraine. Romanian authorities evacuated 200 people and scrambled two British Royal Air Force fighter jets stationed at a NATO military base in response. The drone incident caused damage to an electricity pole and a house outbuilding, and gas supplies were cut as a precaution. Romanian President Nicușor Dan noted this was the first incident where Romanian property had been damaged after multiple airspace violations since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022. The Romanian foreign minister summoned the Russian ambassador. No casualties were reported. The British defence ministry denied shooting down Russian drones.
