On the night of August 15, 2026, three Latvian citizens allegedly committed arson at the building of Milrem Robotics, a defense technology company, in Estonia. The Latvian State Security Service (VDD) opened a criminal case on August 16, 2026, on suspicion of this act. Two suspects were detained on August 17, and one on August 18, with all three placed in custody. Seven related locations including residences and vehicles were searched, resulting in the seizure of numerous data carriers currently being analyzed, as well as items possibly used to start the fire. The criminal case involves suspected assistance to a foreign country against another state under Criminal Law Article 77.4, and intentional damage and destruction of property by arson under Article 185(2).
