Satellite navigation systems in the Baltic Sea region are currently experiencing both continuous jamming and more systematic spoofing, i.e., disruptions from a foreign power. Manipulated GNSS signals are spreading geographically and making disruptions harder to detect. Sweden is mainly affected in the southeastern part of the country and over the Baltic Sea. Gotland, Öland, and traffic flows to the Baltics, Finland, and Poland are particularly exposed to satellite navigation disturbances. By May 28, 2026, the Swedish Transport Agency had received 142 reports of GNSS disruptions compared to about 336 during the same period in 2025. Despite fewer reports, the disruption level remains high with no clear signs of abatement since late winter. Changes in EASA reporting criteria mean report counts are not fully comparable between years. The types of GNSS systems affected include GPS, Glonass, Galileo, and Beidou.
