On May 1, 2024, a Colombian national allegedly acting on behalf of Russian intelligence services set fire to two construction supply depots in Poland, an act identified as part of a hybrid warfare campaign against Poland. The Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) stated the 27-year-old suspect received training from individuals linked to Russian intelligence on preparing incendiary devices such as Molotov cocktails and documenting arson attacks. After these attacks, the suspect traveled to the Czech Republic where he set fire to a bus depot and was subsequently detained by Czech authorities while preparing another attack on a shopping mall. Russian media reportedly misrepresented one of the fires as hitting a logistics center storing Western military equipment. The Russian embassy in Warsaw declined to comment on the accusations. Poland considers these acts hostile hybrid warfare aggression. Russia has historically denied involvement in such attacks.
