Summary

On Monday, police detained eight men in central Tallinn who claimed to be from Ethiopia and were suspected of being in Estonia illegally. Six men were detained in Tammsaare Park and two more elsewhere in central Tallinn. All claimed to have arrived from Ethiopia and entered Europe through Belarus, and had no identity documents. The men were taken to a temporary accommodation center for foreigners. The police noted that in recent weeks, dozens of illegal migrants have been detected in Estonia, with organized criminal groups attempting to transit migrants through Estonia to other countries.

Classification

Confidence: High

The event involves illicit migration possibly facilitated by organized criminal networks, posing hybrid pressure on Estonia's border security and migration management, though it lacks direct aggressive military or paramilitary characteristics.
