On November 30, 2025, Belarus claimed that a drone launched from Lithuania entered Belarusian airspace, dropped red-and-white flags, and then flew over Poland before returning to Lithuania. The drone was reportedly manufactured in Western Europe according to Belarusian debris analysis. Lithuania's presidential national security adviser Marius Česnulevičius stated on December 2 that authorities currently have no confirmed details about the incident and that it might be a fabrication by Belarus or possibly a drone launched by Lithuanian activists. Belarus summoned Lithuania’s chargé d’affaires in protest over the event. The incident is connected to ongoing tensions stemming from repeated flights of smuggling balloons disrupting Lithuanian airports and Belarus restricting Lithuanian trucks after Lithuania imposed border controls. A detailed investigation is underway.
