Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys declared that NATO has the capability to destroy air defence and missile bases in the Russian exclave Kaliningrad. He emphasized the need to demonstrate the ability to break through Kaliningrad's defences, describing it as a 'little fortress.' Budrys also claimed Russia is directing Ukrainian drones towards the Baltic states amid a smear campaign. Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė urged restraint in rhetoric and downplayed drone threat claims, while President Gitanas Nausėda criticized the Foreign Minister's speculative statements and highlighted the sensitive security situation, noting that drone incursions mark increased regional risk. The statements followed Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service claims alleging Ukrainian troops in Latvia and planned strikes from Baltic territory. Lithuania is convening discussions on airspace violations at the forthcoming State Defence Council meeting.
