Eight illegal Indian migrants were detained in Ogre municipality, Latvia on 26 May 2026 following a witness report, with six found in nearby forest after prolonged deprivation.

On 26 May 2026, after a witness reported suspicious persons, Latvian local police in Ogre municipality detained eight illegal migrants from India who had crossed the Latvian border unlawfully. Two migrants were found near the road Rīgas HES–Jaunjelgava, reportedly stopping cars, while the remaining six were located in a nearby forested area where they had been without food and water for several days. One migrant was reported to have a head injury. The detainees were handed over to the State Border Guard for further processing, with emergency medical and national police also involved.
