Two Latvian Radio hosts were accused of spreading false information on air to cover for a colleague who disputed the constitutional status of the Latvian language, with claims of potential Russian influence.

On November 26, 2024, Latvian blogger Nikita Klimentjevs accused two Latvian Radio hosts, Jevgenij Antonov and Nataļja Meščerjakova, of lying live on air by misrepresenting a comment made by colleague Olga Knazeva. Knazeva allegedly questioned the constitutional status of the Latvian language as the state language. The hosts replaced the original dissenting comment with a misleading statement suggesting the listener doubted the value of teaching Latvian language. Klimentjevs also raised concerns that Knazeva could be a Russian Federation citizen, suggesting potential pro-Russian propaganda within Latvian public media. The Latvian public media ombudsman was called upon to address these alleged falsehoods and inform the public about Knazeva's citizenship status.
