Lithuanian state-owned Giraitė Armament Plant starts producing anti-drone ammunition, with test batches sent abroad and interest from multiple countries. Mass production awaits orders.
Lithuania's state-owned Giraitė Armament Plant has begun producing anti-drone cartridges compatible with standard 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm NATO weapons, with an effective range of 50 to 100 meters. Test batches have already been sent to Sweden and France, and there is interest from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Belgium, Israel, and discussions with Denmark. Each round costs about two euros, with magazines holding around 30 cartridges. The plant plans to produce around five million cartridges per year, accounting for about 10% of total production and about 10 million euros in revenue. The plant is also modernizing and preparing a second production line with an investment of approximately 26 million euros, collaborating with Northrop Grumman and NAMMO on medium-caliber ammunition production.
Confidence: High
The activity involves production and deployment of anti-drone ammunition for defensive purposes by a state-owned plant, indicating preparation for defense rather than hostile aggressor action.
