A soldier found a Russian styrofoam drone in Korsze, Poland, believed to be the last of 21 drones that violated Polish airspace in a mass incursion on September 9-10, 2025, marking an unprecedented NATO airspace violation amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
A farmer in the northern town of Korsze, Poland, found a drone near his property on marshy terrain approximately 50 meters away on Saturday afternoon. Officials believe this drone could be the last of the Russian drones involved in a mass airspace violation over Poland during the night of September 9–10, 2025. The drone is made of styrofoam and had been lying in the field for several days. Korsze is located about 20 kilometers from the border with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, an area of heightened tensions since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Authorities confirmed at least 21 Russian drones entered Polish airspace in a coordinated attack coinciding with a wide-scale Russian offensive on western Ukraine. This incident marked the first time Western jets engaged directly with Russian targets over NATO airspace since the conflict began. Since then, drones have been found in five Polish provinces, with the majority in the eastern Lubelskie province. The discovered drone is identical to one previously found on September 10 in Oleśno, near Elbląg close to the Baltic coast.
Confidence: High
The incident involved multiple Russian drones violating Polish airspace, an act of hostile aggression violating national and NATO airspace sovereignty, documented by official military and government sources.
