Marek Sikora, former Polish defense chief, emphasizes that if Ukraine loses the current conflict, it would create a severe security vacuum in Eastern Europe, compelling countries like Poland and the Baltic states to dramatically increase defense spending to 10-15% of their GDP. Sikora highlights that already there is significant military mobilization including increased NATO presence, enhanced training, and stockpiling of military equipment in the region. He argues that proactive and adaptive defense postures are critically necessary to deter potential Russian aggression and maintain regional stability. The commentary underlines the intertwined security of Ukraine and its NATO neighbors, warning about the strategic consequences of a Ukrainian defeat. Sikora calls for continuous investment in modernization of military capabilities and stronger Baltic-Polish-Ukrainian cooperation.
