On Monday, up to five drones were spotted near the flight path of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's plane as he arrived for a state visit to Ireland. The drones were first detected approximately 20 km northeast of Dublin, close to the expected location of the aircraft. The incident triggered a major security alert amid concerns of potential interference with the flight path. The origin of the drones remains unknown, with investigations ongoing to determine if they were launched from land or an undetected ship. Ireland's Defence Forces stated they supported the security operation alongside An Garda Síochána, ensuring a safe visit. The Ukrainian delegation's visit aimed to garner European support amid the ongoing war with Russia. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has characterized such drone incursions into airspace as 'hybrid warfare.'
