The devices, concealed in electric massagers and containing a magnesium-based flammable substance, exploded on the ground before boarding flights bound for North America. Four suspects were arrested by Polish authorities, with two still sought. German intelligence head Thomas Haldenwang highlighted the extreme risk, noting it was luck the devices ignited on the ground and not in flight. The U.S. Transportation Security Administration has since increased air cargo screening, while U.S., British, German, and European officials accuse Russia of a broader sabotage campaign against Western support for Ukraine. This campaign includes sabotage attempts against military bases, railway signal hacking, and GPS jamming for civil aviation, coupled with Moscow's disinformation efforts. Russian officials deny these claims, calling them misinformation.
