Disinformation Without Borders: How Belarusian Silovik Content Spreads Across X

Belarusian Silovik is a Telegram channel operated by Belarus's GUBOPiK security agency under false opposition pretenses, serving as a pro-Russian disinformation hub focusing on the Ukraine war narrative. Research collaborating with Trollensics identified five inauthentic X accounts responsible for the vast majority of content amplification from May 2024 to July 2025. These accounts use bot-like behavior, AI content generation, identity impersonation, and narrative localization to appeal to audiences in Japan, Poland, India, and the US. Among them, one account heavily promotes Wagner Group symbolism and posts pro-Kremlin war content in Japanese. Another impersonates a fake American OSINT organization to gain credibility. Overall, about 2398 tweets cited Belarusian Silovik, shared by accounts totaling approximately 11,000 followers. The network demonstrates sophisticated, persistent, and effective Kremlin-linked disinformation operations, highlighting challenges in platform enforcement and the need for proactive takedown strategies.
