Denmark's Defence Intelligence Service warns Russia will intensify hybrid warfare with more frequent cyberattacks and sabotage, and a low but rising risk of limited military attacks on NATO neighbors.
The Danish Defence Intelligence Service (FE) has published a new assessment indicating that Russia intends to intensify its hybrid warfare against the West and NATO in the coming months, with more frequent attacks expected to have greater consequences for the affected countries than before. The assessment highlights potential destructive cyberattacks targeting critical societal functions and sabotage operations with high risk of casualties. Furthermore, there is a stated low but increasing risk that Russia might conduct a limited military attack on one or more NATO countries bordering Russia, although a full-scale invasion is considered unlikely but cannot be ruled out. Danish Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus emphasized the seriousness of the situation and clarified that the assessment does not mention military attacks on Denmark itself.
Confidence: High
The intelligence assessment explicitly predicts an increase in hostile hybrid warfare activities by Russia, including cyberattacks and sabotage targeting Western and NATO states, with a potential escalation to limited military attacks, constituting clear aggressor signals.
