On the weekend of 19-20 April 2026, two teenagers aged 17 and 19 were arrested by Metropolitan Police over an arson attack on Kenton united synagogue in Harrow, North-West London. A bottle containing an accelerant was thrown through a synagogue window at midnight on Sunday, causing smoke damage to an internal room without injuries or structural damage. Authorities are investigating this incident as part of a series of six antisemitic attacks across the UK linked to Iranian-backed proxies, notably the group Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia, which has claimed responsibility for attacks across Europe on Jewish and Israeli targets. The Met has made 15 related arrests recently. Senior officials emphasized the serious nature of alleged foreign proxy involvement in the modern hybrid warfare context. The synagogue is near a school and playground, and extensive police forensic work occurred at the scene. The chief rabbi highlighted a growing campaign of violence and intimidation against Jews in the UK.
