Lithuania will build nine drone training centres by 2028 to train 15,500 adults and 7,000 children in drone control and construction skills.
Lithuania is launching a drone control and construction skills development project for adults and schoolchildren that involves building nine drone training centres by 2028. The first three centres will open in Jonava, Tauragė, and Kėdainiai in September 2025. The programme aims to train 15,500 adults and 7,000 children, covering drone piloting, engineering, and civil resistance skills. Training is differentiated by age groups from grades three to twelve, including practical experiments, programming FPV drones, 3D design and manufacturing of drone parts, and competitions. The Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union and the Lithuanian Non-Formal Education Agency will conduct the training. The project is funded with over €3.3 million, with the Ministry of National Defence allocating more than €600,000 for the nine forthcoming centres. The initiative supports developing technical skills, creativity, problem-solving, and responsible technology use, contributing to public competence and civil resilience.
