'Voice of Europe', a Prague-based pro-Russian propaganda portal, operated across Europe distributing disinformation and paying European politicians, including AfD members, to discredit Ukraine and influence EU elections, prompting Czech sanctions.
The pro-Russian online portal 'Voice of Europe' ran from a registered office in central Prague, maintaining contacts across Europe including the EU Parliament and paying several politicians to halt aid to Ukraine and spread disinformation. The Czech intelligence service BIS revealed the operation's aim to undermine Ukraine's sovereignty and EU security. Politicians from six countries received payments, with German AfD politicians reportedly among beneficiaries. The site amplified content from right-wing extremist sources and was part of a wider Russian influence operation. Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala confirmed sanctions against the network and associated individuals, including Ukrainian oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk, describing the operation as endangering Czech and EU security. The website was taken offline following these measures.
