An unidentified UAV was found in Liepna Parish, Alūksne Municipality, Latvia, after a possible 18 October crash; its origin remains under investigation.
According to a public release by Latvia's National Armed Forces, information about an explosion-like noise in Liepna Parish was received on 18 October 2026. After information from the State Police, the National Armed Forces conducted deeper analysis of airspace surveillance-system data and obtained information about possible movement of an unidentified object in Latvian airspace. The National Armed Forces and State Police searched for the possible crash site on 18 and 19 October, then suspended the search because available information was insufficient to confirm a crash and locate the object. On Saturday, 24 October, a UAV was found in Liepna Parish; State Police confirmed the object was an unmanned aerial vehicle. Authorities said the available information at the incident moment was insufficient to unambiguously identify a UAV or confirm a threat, so criteria for issuing a cell-broadcast warning were not met. The release notes that Russia's war in Ukraine and related military activity continue to create regional security risks, and that Russian electronic-warfare means can affect UAV communication and navigation systems, making repeat incidents involving foreign UAVs approaching or entering Latvian airspace possible.
Confidence: Medium
The primary subject is a drone/UAV incident involving a possible unidentified object in Latvian airspace and a found UAV, which falls under the hard rule that drone sightings, intrusions, or related incidents are HYBRID_SIGNAL. However, the source does not confirm the UAV's origin or hostile attribution, so it is not classified as a confirmed aggressor signal.
